Group activities are FUN!!!
ARGFest-o-Con 2015 will have no “conference” portion this year, this is a purely social gathering! Some possible organized activities include the following options:
The Franklin Institute |
One of the oldest science museums in the country, this is essentially Benjamin Franklin’s trust fund baby, founded using capital from a trust left behind specifically to further education in the sciences after his death. Exhibits include a working train, and visitor favorite “the Giant Heart.” ARGFest is occuring in the middle of “The Art of the Brick” a limited time exhibition about LEGOs. |
Philadelphia Museum |
Opening in the 1876 as part of the Centennial Celebration, The Philadelphia Museum of Art is one of the oldest and largest art museums in America. Known by many as “The Rocky Steps” due to the Oscar winning film “Rocky” filming the iconic training montage in which Sylvester Stallone’s title character runs up the 72 steps to the tune of “Gonna Fly Now.” |
The University of Pennsylvania |
With galleries that cover the ancient world from Mexico to Egypt to Iraq to Japan, authentic artifacts that show civilizations of our past, this is an EXCITING museum. |
The Mütter Museum |
While technically a medical science museum, this makes for a well spent, fascinating couple of hours. Known to house the grotesque and bizarre, such as a preserved two headed baby corpse and the world famous “Soap Lady,” Barnum could take notes! |
Eastern State Penitentiary |
Once known as “the most famous and expensive prisons in the world” Penn State became the model for many other prisons to follow. Famous inmates include Al Capone, who was serving his first prison sentence. A handful of movies were filmed here, including “12 Monkeys.” The ESP is said to be haunted, and has been featured on a number of “ghost hunting” television programs. |
The Philadelphia Zoo |
The first Zoo in the country continues to be revolutionary with the recent openings of Zoo360, a set of four open air “trails” for animalsof similar habitats to mingle and share spaces during the day. |
Longwood Gardens |
By day, take a tour of this beautiful area complete with over 40 botanical gardens and conservatories full of flora and fauna alike. By nightfall, enjoy a light and sound show like no other, as well as the Beer Garden. |
Escape the Zombie Room |
Locked in a room, with a ZOMBIE, and no way out!!! Or is there? Let’s find out together, shall we? |
FestQuest |
Expect to be walking! Expect to be learning some history! Expect to have FUN!!! |
Prices are listed below. In order to get group rates for most items, we need to have a specific amount of people committed to participating by July 5.
